Frank Mastra

Sitting at a piano, eyes closed, and heart open, the entire world appears to make sense for Frank Mastra
in that moment. The Long Island-born and Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist
exudes charm, confidence, and charisma well beyond his 21 years as he belts out real recollections of
heartbreak, life, and love. He holds notes like his life depends on it, focusing his full-bodied delivery in a
pure catharsis equally suited to a viral post or classic vinyl. Hailing from the seaside town of Orient Point,
he grew up as close to music as he did to the ocean. His father played bass in a nineties alternative rock
band in between tending to the family business of oyster farming. At three-years-old, he embraced piano
wholeheartedly and built a solid musical foundation. In middle school, he picked up the saxophone
inspired by his grandfather. Even though his high school didn’t have a jazz band, he was so committed to
the instrument that he ventured to the next town in order to rehearse with another local high school’s jazz
band. Along the way, he listened to as much music as possible, counting Ray Charles, Bill Withers, Joe
Cocker, Stevie Wonder, and Leonard Cohen among his favorites. Pursuing a Music Industry major at
SUNY Oneonta, he took to social media and posted covers. He piled up millions of views on covers of “I
Believe To My Soul” by Ray Charles, “A Song For You” by Leon Russell, “Let’s Stay Together” by Al
Green, and “Walk The Line” by Johnny Cash. Blown away by his voice and presence, Mercury Records
reached out and offered him a deal. Now, he shines with a signature style steeped in Americana
instrumentation, soul tradition, and fresh fire introduced on his debut single “Hangin’ On.”
