Caleb Moore & Sofia D'Angelo

Sofia D'Angelo:
For most of her life as an artist, Sofia D’Angelo thought she had to choose one: aspirational glam pop-star or relatable, down-to-earth singer-songwriter. “Literally, why not both? I want to be as honest as I can while wearing the hottest outfit you’ve ever seen.” Born and raised in New York City, Sofia was always moved by art and music, with constant trips to the Met Museum and forming her first band at 14, a rock n roll three-piece that allowed her to write songs and perform around the city. It was through this she was able to meet her future bandmates of the band MICHELLE (of which she’s a founding member).

Now, with “Take It Back / Jane Goodall” D’Angelo brings us up to date. With over a decade of experience as a songwriter, performer, and DJ, she’s had a lot to draw from. “Take It Back,” is a driving force of a song, a sonic depiction of a shaken can of soda waiting to explode. Produced by Gabe Goodman, the song defies genre. It combines singer-songwriter acoustic guitar with pulsing EDM subs, digital drums, and organic percussion, alongside melodies that sound like they could’ve been on songs by Fiona Apple or Rosalía. Her voice soars as she sings, “You can’t see a difference / You don’t know the vibe / You’ve been wasting all my time” an example of how expressing pent up anger can not only be cathartic, but also kind of fun.

Caleb Moore:

Caleb Moore is a 26-year-old artist, songwriter, and producer from New York City. A multi-instrumentalist and film composer, Caleb does much of his songwriting and production solo - his music inhabits a groove focused, alternative-R&B space while his vocals and lyrics contrast in their vulnerability and sincerity. He cites artists including Tyler the Creator, James Blake, Rex Orange County, and Lauryn Hill as inspirations, but this group only slightly hints at the scope of Caleb’s musical range. His palate is as organic and raw as it is contemporary and rhythmic. And despite his strong emphasis on the musical backdrop, what may come through most is his vocal honesty and insatiable desire for a good hook.

Having released four singles to date, Caleb is set to release his debut EP this summer.
