Grayson Hugh - The Return of Blue-Eyed Soul's Prodigal Son
Performing his hits, including Talk It Over, Road to Freedom and music from Thelma and Louise and Fried Green Tomatoes, plus brand new songs!
Grayson Hugh is back! After nearly two decades away from his fans, the renowned singer-songwriter and master of the piano is once again making live appearances and stirring up his own brand of soulful roots music. With original songs that speak clearly of his great love for blues, country, soul and rock, and his dynamic powerhouse stage presence, Hugh is going to make lots of new fans and bring out those who have been clamoring for him to Talk It Over with them once again.
Hugh exploded out of the New York music scene in the late 80s with his hit album Blind To Reason (RCA) and the Top 20 single Talk It Over. He toured internationally and appeared on national television, had his music videos go into heavy rotation on VH1, and made legions of devoted fans. Moving to MCA Records for his second critically acclaimed album, Road To Freedom - named by Billboard Magazine as one of 1992's "Year’s Best" - Hugh's reputation was solidified as the heir-apparent to title, "King of Blue-Eyed Soul".
2010 saw the release of An American Record on his own Swamp Yankee Records label, and it prompted reviewer Leonard Pitts, Jr. (2004 Pulitzer Prize winner for Commentary) to write in his glowing review of the release: In a world where music is often a brittle artificiality, the music he makes is hard and strong, convicted and convincing. And true. Most of all, true... Because his music is soul in the sense that it looks you in the eye and speaks to you from the gut, that it is real, honest and - we keep coming back to that word - true... This is "An American Record". Some of us are glad the wait is over at last.
Get ready to have your soul stirred and body moved by Grayson Hugh – it's about time!
