| For Saul Kurtz, music has always been an outlet to learn and reflect on his life experiences, and to share these moments and insights with the people around him.
Now at 22, Saul is starting to share his stories with a larger audience. He recently released a new single “Mr. Executive” at the start of 2012 and debuted its performance at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah in January. Since then, Saul has moved to Brooklyn where he has begun working on his third album and playing live shows in Manhattan.
Saul’s previous album “Precious Time” aired on Pakistan’s largest and most popular radio station CityFM89 and was named the “hottest artist of the month”. He has performed internationally at venues in London and York, UK and Anguilla, BWI. In the US he has performed at venues such as The Surf Lodge, Navy Beach, and Solé East in Montauk, Rockwood Music Hall and Pianos in Manhattan, Café Lena in Saratoga, and The Van Dyck in Schenectady, NY.
Saul’s soothing-soulful voice and his story-like lyrics resonate with a broad audience. Some of his biggest musical influences are Coldplay, John Mayer, Mat Kearney, James Morrison, Jay-Z, and Mumford & Sons. These influences developed Saul’s sound into a rare and unique blend of folk, pop, and hip/hop. Saul has written many ballad-type songs and is currently shifting his focus towards a more upbeat-driven sound that really accentuates his pop and hip/hop influences. One of his favorite songs to perform is his cover of Jay-Z’s “Encore” which is on his album “Precious Time”. His ability to take hip/hop songs and put them into an acoustic/pop sound is new and refreshing. |
